Los Cabos Deep Sea Fishing in Autumn
The fall months are a prime time for Cabo San Lucas fishing, as the waters located around this Mexican vacation hotspot are full of Marlin and other sport fish. The abundance of fish located in the area at that time makes the waters attractive to anglers from around the world. You can take advantage of the influx of fish during this time of the year by fishing Cabo San Lucas waters or by watching the two main fishing tournaments that are held in this area every fall.
Fish Found in Cabo during Autumn Months
There are a variety of species of fish that can be found in the waters along the Baja Peninsula and off Cabo during the autumn months, and this makes charter fishing extremely popular during this time of the year. The black, blue, and striped Marlin are prevalent, as they follow a migration pattern in which they head south during the fall months. Wahoo fish have a peak season in the Cabo area that begins in October, and both Tuna and Dorado are common in these waters during their peak season of April to November.
Fall Fishing Tournaments in Cabo
Fishing enthusiasts flock to the area with their Cabo fishing boat during the autumn months in order to watch or participate in one of two main tournaments in the area:
Offshore Tournament
The Los Cabos Offshore Tournament (hosted by Bisbees) occurs every October in Cabo San Lucas. It is usually held during the middle of the month on a weekend. The Friday of that weekend is used for registration, and teams can register to receive their bags before attending the deckhand/captain/angler meeting. Fishing then occurs over the course of the next two days between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Spectators are able to watch the Shotgun Start each morning from Medano Beach’s Baja Cantina Beach Club.
Marlin Tournament
The Black and Blue Marlin Tournament (hosted by Bisbees) takes place right after the Offshore Tournament, and it often begins on the Tuesday that follows the conclusion of the preceding event. The format is similar to that of the Offshore Tournament, with registration beginning on Tuesday and the actual competition occurring over the following two or three days. The event ends on Saturday, and at this time awards, cash jackpots, and other prizes are handed out. These are primarily based on the size of the fish that is caught.
